Why should I take out insurance for my language stay?

Before going abroad, it is essential to take care of your medical coverage because health costs can quickly escalate with advances and/or high out-of-pocket expenses! It is essential to take out international health insurance beforehand to ensure that health costs are covered and to avoid major expenses.

This is all the more true in times of global health crisis. To find a solution to this major problem, Worddy has teamed up with Heyme!

Heyme, What is it ?

Heyme is an insurance organisation created in 2019. The result of the merger of 7 mutual insurance companies for students, it is the new mutual insurance company that aims to become the leader in the field of health insurance for young people (and not only!), whether they are students or in a professional situation. Heyme offers an affordable package and ideal solutions for accommodation, transport and language courses in case of sudden cancellation or if your covid test proves positive at the time of departure.

A health offer accessible to all

With 4 packages specifically created for students and young professionals, Heyme has made health insurance the core of its offer. Available from €9.90 per month, the basic package provides full coverage for routine care (general practitioner, pharmacy, specialist, etc.) and hospitalisation costs.

Cancellation insurance in case of a positive covid test

Heyme offers a cancellation option as part of an international health solution.

By taking out Heymes travel insurance, you are covered for several situations. One of the most common situations in recent months is the cancellation of a trip due to a positive covid test, for example.

An ideal solution for your language stays: cover abroad

If the borders close at the last minute by decision of the country I am going to (e.g. Portugal) because of COVID, does the insurance work?

It depends on the situation, in any case, only an event that has prevented the departure is covered, as only the "Trip Cancellation" option is marketed for the moment.

Here are some examples, I also refer you to the HEYME press release on Covid coverage, on the following link:

The advantages of your health cover abroad:

  • REIMBURSEMENT OF HEALTH COSTS
  • 100% REIMBURSEMENT OF HEALTH COSTS FROM THE 1ST€ ONWARDS
  • ASSISTANCE AND REPATRIATION
  • CIVIL LIABILITY
  • PRIVATE LIFE & INTERNSHIPS
  • LUGGAGE INSURANCE

Here are some case studies:

  • I would like to cancel my trip because I am under quarantine for Covid-19 or my Covid-19 test is positive or my doctor suspects Covid-19.

You are covered if you have subscribed to the cancellation option.

  • I would like to cancel my trip because a relative is seriously ill with Covid-19.

You are also covered if you have subscribed to the cancellation option.

  • I want to cancel my trip because my destination country is confined or imposes a quarantine or the destination country prohibits travellers from France.

This situation is not covered by the contract.

  • I want to cancel because the event I was supposed to attend is cancelled because of Covid-19.

This is not covered by your contract.

  • I cannot return home because of closed borders, airports, cancelled flights or other means of transport.

INTERNATIONAL HEALTH - What to do before you leave?

  • In the European Union

For a stay in the European Economic Area, you must apply for your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), one month before your departure, from your Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie. The EHIC is free of charge and in your name and covers you only for your health costs according to the terms and conditions of your country of destination. It does not guarantee free care and the remaining costs are very frequent and can be very high depending on the country of destination.

  • Outside the European Union

For a stay outside the European Economic Area, it is essential to find out about the health system in the host country before you leave because, depending on the destination, a minor health problem can very quickly become a real nightmare. In the event of health costs, you can request reimbursement of part of your expenses on your return to France, from the Centre National des Soins à l'Etranger (CNSE).
