Cavendish School of English was founded in 1983. They have been teaching English Courses to students of all ages and nationalities. Over 200,000 students have benefited from Cavendish's courses.

Cavendish School of English is based in Valletta, the capital of Malta. The school's building is an historic house which was built in the 1900's. 

The building used to be the home of a wealthy businessman. This historic location went through complete renovation and is now a modern and beautiful site!

Cavendish School is one of only two schools (out of the 40 that are based in Malta) whose license was granted in Valletta. This is a huge opportunity for students that are looking to escape the touristic crowds and study in a relaxed and beautiful environment.

English - General courses

English 16 - 99 years old

General English programmes are the most popular courses and are especially suitable for adult participants (aged 16 and older), who want to make maximum progress in a short time. It is ideal for anyone, who doesn’t want to improve their English for a specific professional purpose (ESP), since the focus is on the development of the communication skills in daily situations. 

The general English programmes are divided into the following levels – from Beginners to Advanced learners, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 to C2). 

The lesson materials have been created by the University of Cambridge and guarantee that students have fun while learning. The aim of our course is to develop quickly students’ self-confidence and English language. Each student will learn in a relaxed teaching atmosphere.

All students who successfully complete a course at Cavendish School of English receive a Certificate of Achievement, in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Students of all abilities will quickly become more confident and fluent on the course.

Business English 25

English 16 - 99 years old

This highly intensive course is for busy managers and executives who need to be able to use English in a range of commercial situations. The course provides a high level of input from business publications, respected excerpts from various fields, and uses case studies for discussion and English language development. A thorough needs analysis will be carried out on arrival as the course will be specially designed to suit the specific business needs of the students.

Business English courses lesson length is 45 minutes.

Accommodations

Usually the check-in is one or two days before the start of the course, and check out on the day of graduation. You can change the dates in the form.

Roof-top apartment on top of the school

The roof terraced apartment is in the building of our school on the top floor. Not only is the journey to school eliminated if you stay here, you can also enjoy absolute relaxation after lessons. 

You can rent one room or the whole apartment. It has two bedrooms (1x double bed, 2x single beds with balcony), an eat-in kitchen (electric stove, microwave/oven, sink, couch, TV) as well as a bathroom with a shower and a washing machine. 

If you only rent one room you might have to share the living, eating and bathroom area with the guest of the other bedroom. 

The two big roof terraces (existing patio furniture) are by far the highlight of the apartment. Here you can relax and look at the lovely view over the roofs of Valletta.

Accommodation with private hosts is the ideal way of really getting to know the Maltese culture and local life. It also ensures students keep on speaking English language outside of lessons. Following main criteria are guaranteed: private accommodation is carefully chosen and is checked regularly by Cavendish School and the EFL Monitoring Board. Hosts in Malta are required to get a licence before they can take students.

The hosts take special care of the needs of adult students:
• You might live together with other students in single or double rooms.
• From Monday to Friday there will be breakfast and dinner included.
• Saturdays and Sundays you will get a lunch box as well.

Cancellation Policies

We apply the booking and cancellation conditions of the partner school. Below is an excerpt from the cancellation conditions.

If a student needs to cancel his/her course due to force majeure (strike, war, natural disasters, pandemic) the course can be cancelled without incurring a cancellation fee. The student will receive a full refund of the course fees less a 10% administration fee, less the enrolment fee.

All students with reasons for cancellation other than refusal of ‘leave to enter/remain in the UK/Malta’ as described above: If a student cancels before the course or accommodation start date (whichever is sooner), he/she will receive a refund of course fees according to below table.

  • If the cancellation is received more than 6 weeks before the starting date of the course, we will refund the course fees less a 10% administration fee.
  • Cancellations less than 6 weeks before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 20% of the course fees.
  • Cancellations less than 5 weeks before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 35% of the course fees.
  • Cancellations less than 4 weeks before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the course fees.
  • Cancellations less than 3 weeks before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 60% of the course fees.
  • Cancellations less than 2 weeks before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 75% of the course fees.
  • Cancellations less than 1 week before the course commences will incur a cancellation fee of 90% of the course fees.
  • Cancellation on arrival day or after the course start date or accommodation start date (whichever is sooner) will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of the course fees.
