Brooklyn School of Languages is a local, independent English language school in New York with excellent customer service and a warm welcome. Their English classes are small (12 max for General English and 8 max for Business English) to ensure students receive the best possible language learning experience from their ensemble of highly-qualified, professional teachers. English Outdoors Course

English 16 - 99 years old

Our English Outdoors concept is specifically designed to immerse students in NYC life and culture, giving students the unique opportunity to practice their English in authentic NYC settings. Our morning English classes take place in indoor and outdoor locations all over the city, allowing students to learn English and make the most of New York.

The city becomes the classroom! Instead of being in a room with 4 walls, students learn in places such as Bryant Park, Dumbo, Industry City, Essex Market, Central Park and more. Locations have been carefully chosen based on comfort, space, ease of access, points of interest close by, proximity of public restrooms, etc. Our class sizes have an average of 5-6 students, so teachers can give students their undivided attention. 

This interactive classroom experience also includes regular educational and cultural field trips throughout the city including visits to museums, cultural centers, historic neighborhoods, historical landmarks, and more! 

In addition to completing book assignments, regular homework, and participating in pair work and discussion, just like in a regular classroom setting, students get the added bonus of a hands-on approach to learning about NYC.

By choosing English Outdoors, students can also make a positive impact on the environment, taking advantage of natural sunlight and airflow rather than being inside and using artificial light and AC! This makes our English language program the most sustainable, eco-wise choice for students.

They choose their host families in Brooklyn carefully so they know them well (their house, their neighborhood, the family members…), which allows them to make quality placements according to their students’ profiles and needs. They want your stay in New York to be a memorable experience, so they have spent time selecting the right host families in Brooklyn, based on their levels of pastoral care.

Amenities
Students can choose to stay in a single or a twin room, with breakfast only or breakfast and dinner included. Towels and
bed linens are provided. Washing machines are rarely available in US homes but laundromats are always found nearby
(usually $4/wash and $2/dry). Homestays with private bathrooms are also available on request and at an extra cost.

Arrival and departure
Arrival day is on the Sunday before your course starts, and departure day is on the Saturday after your course ends. If
you wish to add one extra night on arrival or departure, we will try and arrange this with your hosts (at an extra cost).
